Traveling with a Firearm in California
The following rules apply to traveling with a firearm in California:
- the firearm must be locked in the trunk or in a locked container in the vehicle
- firearm is carried by the person directly to or from the car for any lawful purpose and it is in a locked container
- the person is not otherwise prohibited under state or federal law from possessing, receiving, owning or purchasing a firearm
