Traveling with a Firearm in Ohio
The following rules apply to traveling with a firearm in Ohio:
- no loaded firearms in a motor vehicle that are accessible to the driver or any passenger without leaving the vehicle
- firearm must be unloaded in a closed package or box, in a compartment that can be reached only by leaving the vehicle, or in plain sight and secured in a rack or holder made for that purpose
- firearms that are at least 24 inches in overall length must be kept in either plain sight with the action open or the weapon stripped or in plain sight if the action will not stay open or the firearm cannot be easily stripped
